Byes and uneven brackets

Odd team counts, late entries, and no-shows are handled automatically. This guide explains exactly what happens so you can explain it to a team that asks.

An odd team out plays, it does not sit

When a round has one team left over after pairing, that team is not given a free pass. It is scheduled to play the winner of the round’s top match as soon as that match finishes. Every team plays a real game every round it is in.

When a bye is unavoidable

In the rare case where a bye is the only option, the team is advanced with a visible match record marked as a bye rather than being silently skipped. Every team stays trackable on the board through the whole tournament.
