Setting up your first event

Everything in VYVE happens inside an event: DJOS, CrowdOS, TournamentOS, PlayOS, and TriviaOS all attach to one. This guide creates your first event and explains how it relates to your venue.

Events and venues

A venue is a physical place with its own TV. An event is a night, a session, or an ongoing residency at that venue. One venue can have many events over time. Usually only one is live at a time, but nothing stops two from being live on different screens.

Create the event

    Open Events and choose New Event
    The button is in the sidebar and in the top right of most dashboard screens.

    Pick an event type
    DJ opens DJOS and CrowdOS. Tournament opens TournamentOS. The type decides which control panel the event uses and cannot be changed after the event is created.

    Name it and choose a venue
    If you only have one venue it is selected for you.

    Create
    The event starts as a draft. Guests cannot see it yet and nothing shows on the TV until you go live.

Which type to choose

Event typeOpensUse it for
DJDJOS and CrowdOSDJ sets, nightlife, and any night with music and a crowd. TriviaOS and PlayOS run from the PlayOS section, not from an event type.
TournamentTournamentOSBracket competitions such as pool, cornhole, and beer pong. Requires Pro or Enterprise.
Note
Recurring nights reuse one event
If you run the same night every week, keep one event and reuse it: go live, run the night, end live, and go live again next week. Duplicate-request protection is scoped to a trailing 24 hours so a song played three weeks ago can be requested again. Your printed QR codes stay valid because the join code does not change.

What to do next

Connect your venue TV, then open the event and press Go Live in DJOS. Going live makes the guest link work and connects the event to the venue screens.
