Laptop health on a long night
Most VYVE drop-outs traced back to the booth are not VYVE at all. They are a laptop that went to sleep, a browser that put a tab to sleep, or an update that wanted a restart. Here is how to take those off the table.
Power and sleep
- 1Plug in, and set sleep to Never while plugged inWindows: Settings, System, Power, Screen and sleep. Set both “when plugged in” options to Never for the night. A closed lid also sleeps most laptops; if you close it, change Choose what closing the lid does to Do nothing.
- 2Turn off automatic restarts for updatesWindows: Settings, Windows Update, pause updates for a week before a run of gigs. A forced restart takes DJOS, VYVE Link, and your DJ software down at once.
- 3Keep the display awake if you use it as a second screenIf DJOS lives on the laptop screen, a screen timeout does not stop DJOS, but it makes it look dead. Set screen off to Never as well.
The browser
| Setting | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Keep DJOS in its own window, not one tab of thirty | Chrome and Edge put background tabs to sleep to save memory. A sleeping DJOS tab stops refreshing and stops relaying guest notices. Its own window stays active. |
| Turn off Memory Saver for joinvyve.io | Chrome: Settings, Performance, add joinvyve.io under Always keep these sites active. Edge has the same under Efficiency mode. |
| Do not use an in-app browser | Open DJOS in Chrome, Edge, or Safari. Browsers embedded in other apps can block features a normal browser allows. |
| Log in on your phone too | DJOS is a web page. Your phone is a second console if the laptop’s browser hangs. Nothing on the guest side changes when you switch. |
VYVE Link
- Open it before your DJ software. It detects Rekordbox, VirtualDJ, or Serato when they start and begins sending as soon as a track plays.
- The status you want is Connected to tonight’s event. Signed in but not connected sends nothing; click Authorize with VYVE and pick the event.
- It remembers the connection across restarts, so a crash and relaunch picks up where it left off.
- It sends only track and mixer data. No audio leaves the laptop, so it never competes with your audio interface for bandwidth or CPU.

Note
If Now Playing still does not move
Work through Now Playing isn’t syncing from VYVE Link. The fallback at any point is typing the track into Now Playing on the Live tab.
